Candy Cane Pie (Printable Version)

Creamy peppermint filling in a chocolate cookie crust, studded with marshmallows and crushed candy canes.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Crust

01 - 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (such as Oreos, finely crushed)
02 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

→ Filling

03 - 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
04 - 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
05 - 1 cup powdered sugar
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
08 - 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
09 - 1/3 cup crushed candy canes, plus extra for topping
10 - Red food coloring, optional

→ Topping

11 - 1 cup whipped cream
12 - Additional crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

# Directions:

01 - Combine chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a medium mixing bowl. Press the mixture firmly into the base and sides of a 9-inch pie dish. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
02 - Using an electric mixer, beat the heavy whipping cream to stiff peaks in a large bowl. Set aside.
03 - In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract until smooth and creamy.
04 - Fold whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well incorporated. Gently fold in mini marshmallows and crushed candy canes. If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring and swirl to create a marbled effect.
05 - Spoon the filling into the chilled chocolate crust, smoothing the top with a spatula. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
06 - Before serving, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with additional crushed candy canes or peppermint candies.

# Quick Tips:

01 -
  • You can whip it up in minutes—no oven required, no stress over setting timers.
  • The creamy filling with pops of candy cane crunch always disappears fast at gatherings.
02 -
  • If you don’t let the pie chill long enough, it won’t hold its shape when you cut into it (trust me, I’ve served peppermint pudding before).
  • Too much peppermint extract overwhelms the dessert—a little at a time is the way to go.
03 -
  • Always check the ingredient list on your candy canes—some brands melt faster than others.
  • For extra crunch, reserve some cookie crumbs and sprinkle over the top before chilling.
